Rudd misled Australian people: Dutton

The immigration minister says Labor can’t be trusted on border protection following comments from former prime minister Kevin Rudd on offshore detention.

Mr Rudd says the program he started in 2013 was only meant to last a year, and that asylum seekers could have been resettled in Australia.

Peter Dutton told Sky News said Mr Rudd’s suggestion was misleading and deceptive.

The thought that they were going to be there for 12 months is a complete and utter nonsense. It’s a fabrication,’ he said.
