4 Killed at Dreamworld Australian Theme Park Gold Coast (Thunder River Rapids)

Thunder River Rapids Ride

At least one person has died in an accident on a family ride at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, 9NEWS understands.

Police said it appeared one person had become caught in a conveyor belt, which helicopter footage suggests was on the Thunder River Rapids family ride.

Paramedics said four other people were injured, and 9NEWS understands multiple people were trapped.

Aerial footage shows one of the ride’s six-seat tyre-style carriages flipped on the conveyor belt that usually delivers them back to the boarding and disembarking area.

According to Dreamworld, visitors as young as two years old can ride the Thunder River Rapids, but under-fours must be accompanied by an adult.
